Hate side profile after rhinoplasty - is revision surgery the only way forward? (Photos)

Question

I hate my side profile now post-rhinoplasty (May 2021). After consistently emailing about myconcerns he agreed to give me a steroid injection and insisted this would make all the difference but I need to wait around 6 - 9 months between each steroid injections. 2 steroid injections down and it’s had 0 impact on my nose tip. I still feel like one side is still really swollen. Will steroids actually work? Or is revision rhinoplasty the thing that will work?

Dear jenince101,
At two years post-op, if this was a primary, I suspect things will not change significantly.From you images, your tip appears to lack teh structural support required for definition. Unsupported skin lacks shape and fillers, whilst useful for irregularities, do not in my experience provide definition.To address this, in my opinion, you would need revisional surgery.

Thank you for your question and photos. I’m sorry that you’re unsatisfied with your rhinoplasty results. Being that it’s been more than a year since your initial surgery, it’s unlikely that you’re still experiencing much swelling. You may benefit from a liquid rhinoplasty with facial fillers to improve the nasal appearance and create the desired effect. 
Otherwise, you can consider a revision rhinoplasty to achieve a more long-lasting solution. Keep in mind that each subsequent nose surgery becomes more complex due to loss of structural support and scar tissue, so the importance of experience, expertise, and artistry cannot be overstated. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon, with expertise in rhinoplasty techniques, who can assess your concerns and surgical history to determine the best solution for you.

Hi there! Sorry that you're experiencing trouble after your rhinoplasty. Steroid injections can work for swelling. I usually wait 3-ish weeks in between and adjust dosing as well as location as needed. Once results get to where I want, I let your body do the rest of the healing. I also have patients tape at night which does reduce swelling. A low salt diet decreases any fluid shifts. I would wait at least 12 months before considering a revision rhinoplasty and make sure you've tried the above, first. Hope this helps you out!
