And of course, blood type is only one of the markers needed to ensure any type of graft or organ transplant would be suitable (not to mention worthy of lifetime immunosuppressive therapy and the increased risk of lymphoma or other cancers). This is why organ, bone marrow, or other life-saving transplants are only done in the most exquisitely-matched (much more than blood type, most of the histocompatibility antigens must match or the graft/transplant will fail, and can even if they DO match) patients. As other have stated, identical twins could do this, but not mother and daughter, since half of your cellular material comes from your father. Not a match. Furthermore, the risks and medical difficulties with immunosuppressive drug therapy are not appropriate for elective cosmetic surgery. Kidney transplant to save a life and prevent dialysis; heart transplant to save a life, etc.--Sure, but not for breast augmentation when a superior alternative exists--breast implants.Sorry, but implants remain the best and safest choice of all. The fat would be rejected from everyone except an identical twin. Unfortunately, other members of your family are not close enough genetically for fat transfers from them to work for you.
Only an identical twin could help with providing fat. If you are thin, implants are still the most reliable form of breast augmentation.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
This is a common question. Someday, when the risks of immunosuppression have been eliminated by medical research, this may come to pass, but for now, only an identical twin may donate fat for your interest in fat transfer breast augmentation. Or, perhaps in vitro cloning of your own fat and stem cells may be practical, but this is still someday in the future.
Need to be a twin. I was actually asked this same question in my office today!Fat grafting is a valuable tool in breast surgery. This technique has gained more popularityover the past 7 years. There are manytechniques used to harvest the fat, process the fat and then re-inject the fat.Conventional suction lipectomy is performed with a small diameter cannula, processed by separating the liquid and fibrous tissue from the fat, and thenplaced into syringes for re-injection or through a closed system. Please find an experienced Board Certified Plastic Surgeonand member of the Aesthetic Society using the Smart Beauty Guide. This is a great question and surprisingly common. The only way you can harvest fat from a relative would be an identical twin. There are Histocompatability genes which are present in everyone enabling our body to recognize someone else and reject them. Identical twins have the same gene make up and thus the same histocompatability genes.
No, fat from a relative including your mother wouldn't be successful. It would only work if it was from an identical twin with the exact same genetic makeup, otherwise your body would reject the fat and there would be significant problems. If you are interested in breast enhancement, I wouldsuggest that you find a surgeon certified by the American Board ofAmericanPlastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society forAesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. Youshould discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person.Robert Singer, M.D., FACSLa Jolla, California
No, using the fat from another person is not possible. To make it work you would need a very expensive workup as would the donor. You would then need to be on very expensive drugs for years and probably for life to prevent rejection. That is worthwhile for a lifesaving kidney or heart transplant, but not to make the breasts a little bit larger.
It can take over a year for scars to completely fade naturally. So, things will probably get better with time. If not, then an IPL treatment might help. If you want a change now, you could consider an IPL treatment now. Remember, all scars are permanent and no treatment can erase...
This is a common procedure in my practice and the results can be impressive. However, many patients do very well with breast implants alone, so there needs to be a specific goal in mind to be addressed with the addition of fat. I like to use fat in combination with implants...
This is a common procedure in our practice. There is a relationship between the size of your breasts and the amount that can be injected at a single operation. Small breast can only accept a small amount of fat. It is not helpful and can be harmful to over inject the breasts with...
