Thank you very much for sharing your concerns with us.After having analyzed all the information sent to us, i can realize that you have a too large and heavy breasts for your weight and height, this produces discomfort and cronic pain in the neck, back and shoulder, and some skin problems under the breasts. Therefore, in the future may cause osteo-articular permanent damage in these areas For these reasons we should consider performing a breast reduction surgery on you. Finally I remind you that you're a teenager, and, for any type of procedure we need a consent of your parents or responsables.Kind Regards,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
Thank you for the question. Based on your description, you may be an excellent candidate for breast reduction surgery. This operation tends to be one of the most patient pleasing operations we perform. “Typical” patients who present for breast reduction surgery are women who have disproportionately large breasts, causing problems such as neck/back/shoulder discomfort, postural changes, bra strap grooving, skin irritation/rashes under the breasts, and/or difficulty with activities of daily living and/or exercise etc. There may be both physical as well as psychosocial “stress” caused by the disproportionately large breasts.Reducing breast tissue mass and elevating the breasts on the chest wall tend to improve or alleviate many of the symptoms associated with the disproportionately large breasts.Once you have chosen your plastic surgeon carefully, it will be important for you to communicate her goals carefully as well. In my practice, I asked patients to use as many “visual aids”, such as goal photographs, during the communication process. Avoid the use of subjective terms; for example, "C or D cup” and/or “ as small as possible"… these terms can be confusing, since they may mean different things to different people. Once you have communicated your goals, your chosen plastic surgeon will be able to provide you with a more precise plan, including specific technique to be utilized. When it comes to costs of surgery, there may be many “variables” involved. The specific surgeon's credentials/experience level (or lack thereof), the specific geographic area you are looking at, the different operations available, the location of the procedure (quality of surgery facility), type/quality of anesthesia provider… are some of the potential variables involved. You will find some average costs of surgery on this website and on individual plastic surgeons' websites as well.I hope this, and the attached link (dedicated to breast reduction surgery concerns), helps. Best wishes.
Thank you for your question. Photos would usually help, but by your description, you require a breast reduction. The fee depends on what needs to be done, so, a physical exam is necessary. The down time is usually one week. I use dissolvable sutures and NO drains. You will need to interview several surgeons for opinions and remember to ask to see actual patient photos in making your decision.Best of luck.Dr. T
You are likely a candidate for breast reduction and with that, you get a lift as part of the procedure. The fee will vary from surgeon to surgeon. Best of luck.
For large breasts that are sagging, a combination of a breast reduction and a breast lift will lift the breasts so that the nipples are in a normal position. The breasts should then be self-supporting and not rest on your tummy. Surgery will also help to relieve the stress on your shoulders and back. Laurence Kirwan, MD, FRCS, FACS
anajal, From your description it sounds like you are a candidate for breast reduction surgery. Suitability varies with BMI, and may affect insurance consideration, if there is one, and the costs may vary widely with geographic area, country, and the particular surgeon. As breast reduction is a skin, fat and gland operation, with no muscle involvement, the pain level is usually relatively low, and the recovery rapid for most patients. I hope this helps. Information is linked below.
Once you are sure your breast size and shape has been stable for 12 months (and at 18 yrs that is probably the case) you can see a surgeon for correction of the problem. It would take an exam to know which of several options would be best for you.
If anyone qualifies for breast reduction coverage under insurance, I would say that would be you. You should contact your insurance company to find out the steps necessary to get it covered. If you have an HMO you may need a referral to a plastic surgeon from your regular doctor.
Every insurance plan has their own unique criteria on whether they will cover a breast reduction. More and more, we are seeing plans where a breast reduction is not a covered benefit. If it is a covered benefit, some insurance plans set a minimum required amount of tissue to be remove in...
