Im worried how out of it I'll be after surgery and whether or not I'll still be able to take care of my kids during the 2 week recovery period. They are 2 and 6 months. Should I put off the surgery until they're older?
Answer: Activity after rhinoplasty After your surgery, you will likely want some assistance taking care of your kids for at least a few days (or until off of your pain medications). Once you are feeling better, you can care for them. Most surgeons will restrict you from strenuous activity and/or lifting anything heavy(such as a child) for a period of time after surgery so be sure to discuss this with your surgeon for specific restrictions. In addition, be very careful after surgery not to get accidentally bumped in the nose by one of your children as your nose will be very delicate while healing.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello, good question. I don't think that you would need to put off the procedure, but you will want some help around the house until the anesthesia wears off. You also want to avoid any strenuous activity or heavy lifting for a week or so -- so that might impact your decision. I have a great Rhinoplasty Q&A ebook that can also help answer some questions. Take a look.

Answer: Taking care of kids after rhinoplasty Thank you for your question! Although specific recommendations regarding recovery will depend on your plastic surgeon, most surgeons would recommend taking a break from your routine chores during the first week after rhinoplasty. It doesn't necessarily mean that you can't keep an eye on your children, but you should really strive to sleep as much as you can, avoid physical activity, and get drink plenty of water. You can, however, engage in some light walking around the house if that should be the extent of your looking after the children. You may resume light physical activity and even return to work at 7 to 10 days after your procedure. Even at this time, however, you should try not to overexert yourself. Light exercise can be resumed in 2 or 3 weeks depending on your healing progress. An in-person exam with a board-certified plastic surgeon is the best way to assess your needs and obtain expert medical advice. Best of luck!

Answer: Rhinoplasty will not limit child care after surgery No, your rhinoplasty will allow you to care of your children! You will, of course, need 24-48 hours to fully recover from any anesthesia, so an adult helper will be needed to help both you and your children. Avoid heavy lifting or straining, as it may lead to a nose bleed. By the way, I do not consider holding your child as "heavy" lifting. As with any surgery, you will have to avoid any trauma to your nose, so watch out for a child's moving head!
