How Do I Find Out If I have Lost a Hair Graft?

You may have lost a few grafts. It would be hard to tell. Check with your doctor.  It can be normal to lose 1-2 grafts for every 1000 grafts.

It was a good idea to get checked by your doc.  It's hard to say if a follicle came out.  In the grand scheme of things, losing a few follicles here and there won't make a visible difference.  But I can understand your concern. If you didn't see a follicle in the cap then it's probably still in your scalp.  Once they're in, they usually stay put.

If a newly transplanted graft comes out of its new recipient site it bleeds!  So we can tell if a graft came out of its new tunnel pretty easily. But what is more challenging is knowing if the graft was "lost". Usually a bit of bleeding is normal and does not necessarily mean a graft was lost. It simply means that the graft came out and went back in again. Is there a major detriment to losing a graft? Not at all. Remember that graft survival is not 100% even if all the grafts did stay in! Graft survival is 90-95 %. Losing one graft will have very little if any long term impact on final results. 

It seems that you caused a graft or two to fall out. Bleeding is a sign that you lost a graft or more. You must be very gentle immediately after a hair transplant
