I have a picture of a open incision on my left breast, my surgeon told me to keep silverdene on the wound and I keep it covered with a breast pad but it seems to be getting worse, should I just keep the wound dry or keep using the silverdene? I can't walk around uncovered, I have to go to work but wearing a bra is very painful, is there another way to get this wound to heal faster, please help!!!
Answer: Breast reduction wound Thanks for the picture. Local wound care is the best method of healing this wound . There are many ways to do this. Silvadene cream is one way. Please follow your instructions and this will be the quickest way to resolution

Answer: Will silverdene help heal an open incision after breast reduction? I am sorry to hear/see the complication that you are experiencing. fortunately, these types of wound healing problems go on to heal, often without long-term sequelae. There are a variety of ways to handle the open wound; best to follow your plastic surgeon's recommendations, as opposed to online recommendations. Sometimes, removal of exposed sutures and/or unhealthy tissue will help expedite healing. Otherwise, attention to good nutrition, local wound care (as instructed by your plastic surgeon), and “tincture of time” will be all that is necessary. Best wishes.

Answer: Wound healing after breast reduction Silvadene is a fairly commonly used antibacterial agent used to treat wounds. If you feel the wound is getting worse you should see your surgeon again so he/she can reassess you and see if your treatment needs any changes. Often, the treatment for wounds will change as the wound itself changes, and your surgeon can guide you through that process. Take care.

Answer: Silvadene or not? There are many ways to help a wound like yours to heal. Silvadene is certainly one of those. I do not know of anything that will speed up the process other than good wound care and good nutrition. Your surgeon is right that it cannot be closed, but I have had success with partially approximating the skin with sutures, so that the body does not have to do all the work of closing the wound. Discuss this with your surgeon.
