How long should I wait before going without wearing bras after breast reduction and lift?

Will going bra-less two weeks after breast reduction and lift affect the perkiness of my breast? If so how long after surgery can I go bra-less or switch to a different type of bra?

I ask my patients to wear a supportive surgical bra for months after surgery but if there is an evening you want to wear something else that's fine but for the most part the longer you wear it the better the result

You should pose this question to your operating surgeon. In my practice if all has gone well and the breast have completely healed I allow my patients to wear off the rack bras at six weeks. I typically do not recommend going bra-less

Thanks for the question, every doc is different I ask people to wear a sports bra for a month as much as possible but I tell people they can take it off around the house as much as they want

Very common question!  In my practice I ask patients to wear a supportive recovery bra for around six weeks.  If you have a special occasion then it is usually fine to go without the bra or switch to a different type of bra for a few hours.  Special care needs to taken with underwire bras for around 12 months to ensure that scars are not irritated.  Many patients like the look of underwire bras but find them a little uncomfortable.  If thats the case you can simply remove the underwire from the bra.  Of course, you should seek the advise of your surgeon in your individual case.

Understanding that every surgeon may have a different practice, I ask my patients to stay in the postsurgical bra for the first month postoperatively. It is not uncommon for patients to subsequently have a “bra  burning ceremony”. Check with your own plastic surgeon for the most relevant advice.Best wishes.

Not sure why you would go bra less after only two weeks. Time, age, gravity, and quality of tissues all impact how well the tissues will hold up after a lift. Best of luck.

My questions to you are why and what's the rush? I do not recommend going braless as a rule. If you are attending a social function and wearing a low cut dress, there are bras made for this purpose.  Discuss when you can switch bra types with your surgeon as everyone has his or her own protocol.

After a couple of weeks of healing you should be able to wear any bra that you find comfortable. Going without a bra for other than a short time is not an option if you want to maintain your results.
