I assume by your question that you have already had the tummy tuck procedure and now it is being recommended that you have an abdominal hysterectomy. Ultimately, the GYN should be able to go through the same incision as your tummy tuck, but the problem will be entering your abdomen through the previous muscle repair. I would suggest talking to your GYN to make sure he/she is comfortable with operating through a previous tummy tuck incision and if not, perhaps your previous (or if not available, a new) plastic surgeon could be available to help with the procedure, though this may be difficult to coordinate. Another possibility is to ask your GYN if the hysterectomy can be done laparoscopically or vaginally or even with robotic assistance to avoid as much damage to your abdomen as possible. Best of luck with your surgery!
Thanks for your question. There should not be any issues with this if the hysterectomy is being performed more than a year after your tummy tuck. I would followup with your plastic surgeon 4-6 months after the procedure for a checkup if you have concerns. All the best.
If your gynecologist uses the same incision as your tummy tuck and closes all of the usual layers, then you can expect little negative effects to the results of your tummy tuck. If you are in doubt about these issues, you could have your gynecologist talk to your plastic surgeon about this to make sure everyone is on the same page.
As long as your OB-GYN closes the anterior abdominal fascia after the hysterectomy there should be no problems with your abdominoplasty result.
Hysterectomy will disrrupt your muscle repair. Thus a tightening may or may not be needed in addition to simple repair of muscles after hysterectomy. Situation will vary individually.
Thank you for the question. The changes you have described are very normal in the post op period you are in. You are still in the early stages of the healing process. In the initial phase after surgery, within the first three months, there is a period of inflammation and scarring that must...
Sorry to hear of your concerns. The issue with the bubbles is related to the fact that your drain tube is not connected to a suction bulb most likely. If this does not resolve quickly, I would give consideration to having your drains replaced in an outpatient surgery to speed up...
Thank you for your question. Having a previous tummy tuck by itself does not make pregnancy unsafe. However, you may be left with some abdominal muscle and skin laxity after another pregnancy and the hernia could come back. I recommend that you discuss your concerns with your obstetrician and...
