Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis. We see atrophic and hypertrophic scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to discuss the best treatment options for your type of skin. . Dermabrasion removes the epidermis and upper layer of the dermis. Since lasers have been developed, dermabrasion has fallen out of favour since it is very messy and there is a risk of white scarring. Traditional CO2 resurfacing lasers initially took the place of dermabrasion but there are still 2 to 3 weeks of healing time and the potential of white scarring. When fractional CO2 lasers came along, they became very popular since only fractions of the skin were removed, allowing for quicker, safer healing and less chance of scarring. The main consideration of which device to choose should be based on the experience of the physician and which method they are most comfortable with to achieve the best result.
