Performed Dermabrasion on myself. Is this normal? Please help! (Photo)

Question

I have a couple of acne scars on my right cheek that really bother me and have been around for 4 years. I tried everything! Microneedling, co2 , erbium laser, subcision, peels (multiple sessions of each) and nothing worked. I got tired of spending money on treatments and not seeing results so I decided to perform Dermabrasion on myself after reading a research article. I autoclaved 120 sandpaper and scraped my skin, then I applied antibiotic ointment. This is how my skin looks the day after.

this is terrible, never do at home treatment like this! you will be left with permanent scarring and hypopigmentation if you do not do appropriate skincare at this time. sandpaper isn t used for acne scars for YEARS even if dermabrasion is used its with a diamond tip and controlled with pre treatment and post treatment. I am so sorry for this, unfortunately when you self treat, no matter what condition, either skin problem or hair removal or any other medical condition, you end up spending more than saving money.
I dont know the source of your sand paper but if it is not a medical grade, it may have ingredients not safe for human and human skin, the glue they use to make the sand paper might have leached out and have interacted with your skin (based on what I can see from the picture), anyways, the best option at the moment is to go and see a specialist to treat the acute condition you are having now.
