Are polyps making my nose bigger?

Question

About 7-8 years ago I got nasal polyps. In the time since then my nose has become much much bigger. I never had a big nose but I would say I do. Could this be causing it? Also if they were removed would my nose revert to the way it once was? Thank you.

Hi,Inorder for the polyps to widen the nose, they must be visible through the nostrils (extremely rare) !oridinary nasal polyposis will not cause this !in the tare circumstance once the nasal bones widened, it will not revert in the old position!Best wishesMr J Tahery ChesterUK

Unless the polyps are in the nostrils it is unlikely that they will make your nose larger. Polyps are typically involve the nose and sinuses. They can lead to infections as well as cause nasal obstruction. Removal of polyps should not change the appearance of your nose. Take care,Dr. Dominic
