Is it normal to get new bruising around Tummy Tuck incision 10 days post surgery?

10 days post surgery and have had an uneventful recovery so far. Today I've noticed that all around my incision scar its particularly swollen and is sore to touch and is becoming very bruised. Is this a normal part of the healing process? I have been seeing my surgeon regularly and only yesterday he checked my tummy for any fluid build up or blood clots and he was happy that there wasn't either but the bruising and mega swelling only started today. The skin isn't red and my scar has healed well.

You could be bleeding, or maybe initial bleeding is becoming a serohematoma and you might well require puncture to drain the collection.

It sounds like you are getting very good aftercare from your surgeon and it is reassuring that he saw you only yesterday. Bruising can appear in the way you describe and be quite harmless, but the best thing would be for you to get back in touch with your surgeon to organise another appointment.Good luck

There are patients who experience swelling and bruising after surgery, and they are quite normal and do not usually cause any problems, but if you want to be sure, then you should schedule another appointment with your surgeon.
