There really is no age limit to get braces. The most important thing is to make sure the gum and bone structure around your teeth is healthy enough to support tooth movement. You should coordinate a visit with both an Orthodontist and Periodontist (gum specialist) so they can develop a treatment plan together. It is the perfect time to get that beautiful smile you always wanted! So many adults are heading to the orthodontist as they are great esthetic options available. Good luck!
You are never too old to get braces or anyother dental procedure that you desire! I did a complete oral rehabilitationon a 78 year old patient (crowns and bridges), and you would not believe how happy hewas with his new and beautiful smile. He no longer had to wear dentures andcould smile and eat with confidence. Age is not a determinant in what type ofdental care you receive, however your overall health does matter. If you are ahealthy 49 years old, and I consider that young, just do it. Probably, the mostlimiting factor is your periodontal health, which can be ascertained by yourgeneral dentist. My recommendation for braces for most adults is Invisalign orsomething similar. Seek out an experienced Invisalign general dentist ororthodontist for a consultation. Go for it!
Thank you for a great question. The good news is, if it will not go away after improving oral hygiene, it can be easily and painlessly removed using a dental laser. We carry it in our practice. Ask your orthodontist if they have it as well.Good luck.
