Can yawning, laughing, and lifting things ruin your result of a septorhinoplasty? I'm 9 days post op.

Question

I had a septorhinoplasty 9 days ago since then I have lifted some heavy items like a hover for housework stuff and bags, I then have accidentally when sleeping hit it and woke up leaning on my side, and every time a yawn I can't yawn through my mouth my nose has clenched in together when this happens and I can't control it. I have laughed and when I do this I snort. I also have tingling in the nose and my cast feels slack have I ruined this procedure.

Hello,Excessive facial movement can in fact make the nose swell more and possibly alter it. I would refrain from lifting heavy items until after 6 weeks from your initial surgery. Normal activities like sleeping, yawning, and laughing cannot distort your nose. It is very unlikely you have damaged your nose - it is not unusual for a cast to start loosening after 9 days as swelling begins to settle.  Lying on your side should not cause a problem either.  As your nose begins to clear on the inside your unusual noises should stop.  It is great that you are able to laugh - this won't spoil your rhinoplasty.  9 days after surgery is a good time to see your surgeon.
