Dent in lip after filler. Is this normal? (Photo)

Question

Hi there, I had juvederm 1ml filler two days ago I am aware that swelling is normal however when I purse my lips together there is a dent in lips middle bottom as shown in the pics bellow I can't make a kiss shape without this happening is this normal? I asked the lady who done them and she said it's swelling causing this just wanted a second option many thanks

Yes, this can be typical after lip filler. I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging the results. If it is after the two week wait, you can have the filler reversed with hyaluronidase.

Swelling and bruising is not uncommon with lip injections. Using cold paks, Arnica, and bromalain can all help reduce the swelling and get rid of the bruising quicker. Swelling can last up to 2 weeks. I encourage you to remain patient and not judge any results untl after the 2 week mark. At which point I would follow up with your injector to see if any massage or touch up is necessary.

It is possible that you injector did not put any juvaderm in the middle of your lower lip. This would cause a "dent."

Hello and thank you for your question. It would appear that you have a void in the center of your lower lip. I would return to your injector and have it evaluated. You may need a bit of a touch up in that area.Best of luck to you.

Hello amy,Thanks for adding photos, they are helpful. I would agree with the lady who placed the filler: try to be patient, as it does take 7-10 days to see the final effect. The lips can swell a fair amount, and the swelling is not always even. I ask my patients to come back two weeks after injection just to be certain that everything is as I/we intended. Hope this helps!dr. silver
