Wet shaving with razor increase fading after scalp micropigmentation?

Question

Is it true that wet shaving of head with razor increase fading of SMP? The doctor told me that normally touch-ups might be needed after 3-5 years, but fading would be faster if you're going to wet shave with razor everyday. He said in that case 1.5-2 years maximum is expected because as far as I understood shaving with razor actually exfoliate layer of skin, and thus catalyze it to regenerate faster so pigments fade quicker. If so, then how can one get as close shave after SMP without razor?

It is best to contact your doctor about post operative care and instructions since each doctor has a different regimen.  In general, shaving has no impact on SMP just as it would have no impact on tattoos.

I have not seen this as a problem in the many patients we have done with SMP; however, I usually tell patients to follow the advice of their doctors. Touch-ups are not uncommon after 5 years or so
