Hello, Is it possible to simply lengthen the upper jaw so you show more teeth? How much would that surgery cost? And how risky would it be? Thank you.
Answer: What procedures can improve #toothshow #orthognathic #lefort #liplift Alex,Without photos it is difficult to make a diagnosis as to what exactly is occurring. Yes jaw surgery is possible to improve the appearance or visibility of your anterior teeth. If your teeth and facial symmetry are normal it is very difficult to have only a one jaw surgery. Once the upper jaw is moved in any direction it will affect the relationship of the teeth to the lower jaw. If the decision is to only lengthen the upper jaw the movement is limited to a certain position dictated by the arc of rotation of the lower jaw. Upper jaw lengthening is one of the least stable orthognathic surgeries, (most relapse). another surgical option would be to have a lip lift procedure. This is performed my hiding an incision at the base of the nose, removing an appropriate amount of tissue that will lift the lip and expose more tooth. The other option that I think should be evaluated is with your dentist. He or she may be able to make your anterior teeth more visible either with crowns or veneers. Again a full consultation with an oral maxillofacial surgeon, orthodontist and your dentist should be had. Best of luck

Answer: Longer upper jaw Hi,You need to be assessed by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to see what is required. You can get a LeFort 1 downgraft procedure but this is not very stable. One jaw surgery is $5000 in Australia but you have to have private health insurance for the hospital etc. Orthodontics may be required and this can cost $7000.Julian
