Hi, I'd like to know the propose of the head band post otoplasty is recommended at night for 2 months. I was told that it would help to shape the ears, but hasn't the shape already been determined by the surgery and sutures? I was initially given to understand that the band was just to protect the ears from moisture and pulling. So if I don't wear It (I feel ok without it, and sleep alone) , will the shape change?

Please allow for about 6 months to pass before assessing your results. It is possible that swelling is hiding your results. Once the swelling has gone down you can talk to your surgeon about your concerns should they still exist.
It appears that a suture or stitch has poked through your skin after the surgery. I would advise you to see your plastic surgeon so that she/he can remove the suture. This is not uncommon. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. You are asking if a little of the antihelix of your ear can be removed or reshaped, as it is protruding and causing your ear to look prominent.
I can certainly give you some guidance about your ears based just on your photo, even in the absence of a physical exam....
