Will my laser hair removal leave burn scars? (Photo)

Question

I had my 5th session of laser hair removal last week and the technician used a different laser on me and it burned my skin. I went to my dermatologist and was prescribed silver sulfadiazine and have to apply it twice a day. My burns have started to peel and have left a mark. I am afraid that these marks will eventually scar. I am currently moisturizing them with as much as I can with aquaphor, neosporin and vitamin e gel capsules. Please advise, I don't want scars or hyperpigmentation

It is possible that the burns will leave a scar.  It is also possible that they will slowly resolve without a scar. Unfortunately it is hard to say for sure. Your skin pigment and the tendency to hyperpigment will definitely be a factor. Good luck.

It looks like you have a darker skin tone.  I would suggest you check with the technician or speak to the medical director of the clinic to make sure that the laser they have used on you has an indication for your skin type.  Most laser hair burns are superficial and should heal accordingly over time.  However, the possibility of a permanent scar still exists.  It is important that you keep these burned areas well hydrate with aquaphor or similar  to reduce the chance of scarring.  At our clinic, we usually add a skin healing cream such as epidermal repair from Skin Ceuticals.
