Breast tingling and sharp pains 6 weeks post op

I got a breast augmentation 6 weeks ago, 275cc over the muscle. They seemed to be healing nicely with very little/no pain but in the last week I have had tingling and sharp pains mostly on my right breast quite often throughout the day. My nurse said it will settle and to try not to worry but it is getting more frequent not less and I am worried that something is wrong. Is it normal to have these pains?

During breast surgery small sensory nerves may be injured.  These nerves try to regenerate themselves over time.  As these nerves regenerate (regrow) there may be associated tingling and sharp, sometimes shooting pains.  Nerve regeneration may last for several months or even longer and therefore so will the tingling, sharp, and sometimes shooting pains.

What you are experiencing is normal. During the breast augmentation, some nerves have been severed and now they are trying to regenerate. This causes the tingling sensation and the sharp, shooting pains you experience. This would eventually subside as you recover over the next few months. if the pain is intolerable and it is giving you trouble sleeping, contact your surgeon for pain medication.
