Surgery for axiliary breast tissue in armpit 7 years ago, it seems to be growing back. Is it just skin or tissue growing back?

Weight change (twenty pounds is substantial) and just getting older can affect the size of your breasts including axillary breast tissue. Try weight reduction and see if this is a simple non surgical approach to your problem. 

It is impossible to say without an in person examination. Please speak with your plastic surgeon to address this.

Breast tissue does not grow back. But if it was not all removed the first time, the remaining portion can certainly change with changing hormone levels. Make sure you are not pregnant. Ask your surgeon to remove the rest at the same time. 

The history you are providing sounds more convincing for fat enlargement as a result of weight gain.  If your PS thinks it is primarily skin, then I would trust her/his opinion.As stated, if returning to your previous weight is an option, then that weight loss should be accompanied by a reduction in the axillary fullness if it is excess fat.  If it is simply loose skin, then it would likely appear to worsen with weight loss.Trust your the recommendation of your PS, or get another opinion, and just try to be patient.

Without an examination (photos might have helped a bit) it would not be possible to distinguish between fat, breast tissue or excess skin.Either way, it should not have any unfavorable effect on your upcoming surgery. This may be something your surgeon could address at the time of your operation.All the best. 

Excess axillary tissue can be from your weight gain and hormonal changes. Your surgeon can give you suggestions how to deal with this tissue, and this can be done at the same time as your lift.  Please discuss this with your surgeon.

 Based on your history, especially that of weight gain, it is likely that you are dealing with some breast and/or adipose tissue in the area. This tissue, may be hormonally sensitive and  therefore, tender. Your plastic surgeon may be able to remove the “excess” skin/tissue at the time of your breast surgery, if it is of significant concern to you. Otherwise, besides appearance wise, it should not affect your planned surgery in any way. Best wishes for outcome that you will be very pleased with.

The "regrowth" of your axillary breast tissue is most likely from combination of your weight gain and hormonal change.  If there is excess skin or/and tissue in the axilla, this can be addressed at the same time as your breast lift surgery.  Please talk with your plastic surgeon about your concern and your wish to address it.  Best wishes!

Thank you for your question and I agree with Dr Pousti that it may be increased fat or breast tissue associated with wother weight gain.  It would helpto know if the previous tissue was excised or removed via liposuctionDr Corbin

Most common cause for this pain could be the regrowth because of the weight gain and the hormonal changes it produces. It might be better after weight reduction.
