24 hours post treatment the swelling on my cheeks has not reduced at all.

Subcsion and laser can vary - depends on the type of laser, energy, density, passes, wavelength, combinations, - your plastics or dermatologist would always give you a guide. Same with subcision. This procedure is extremely variable- it can be done with a delicate 30G needle, or extensive multi-layer subcision using a NOKOR 18G needle to extensive areas. Swelling may last 20 minutes, all the way to 10 days. Your specialist will always tell you of the expected progress post operatively. This is because we can tell how much tethering you have - had once we conduct the procedure. Other variables include your healing time, and if you are on any medications.
