I re-read my original review and I wanted to...
The doctor was overall nice and tried to be helpful in answering my questions, but I didn't see much improvement. I do think it was worth my time so that I could find out what works and what doesn't. I won't necessarily be mad if the treatment didn't work, but I was upset about the service.
Thank you for your reply.
Provider Review
I had very much looked forward to seeing Dr. Karamanoukian. I had read wonderful reviews about him. In my initial consultation with him, he was nice and easy to talk to, reassuring that he would be able to help me with my problem. I was still a little unclear on some of the questions I was asking him, but he was informative about the plan of care and seemed to want to give a thorough consult. He told me that he would have directions written down for me about the products he wanted me to use because I was a little confused about it. When we were done they were not written down, but I was still OK, I tried to ask questions clearly and write it down myself. However, I was a little disappointed that the doctor himself was not there to answer my questions, knowing what we had just talked about during the consultation. I do not think it is right for front desk receptionists or anyone other than the doctor for that matter to instruct about how to use a product. I don't feel like I got accuracy, clarity, or confidence in the answers I got. After I bought the items, I saw that it was $10 cheaper on their website than what I was charged. I went back inside to ask about it. The darker haired receptionist guessed that the extra $10 was to make up for the shipping cost. In the moment, I couldn't think of the right words but basically, that makes no sense and she totally made up some BS. Not only would the shipping cost not amount to $10, but there should be no shipping cost if the item isn't being shipped. It still did not feel right to me so I asked about it again. The other receptionist said I was charged the correct price, and the first one said she asked management and they said the price online needs to be changed. There was no offer of doing anything to make up for their mistake. In this situation, I honestly feel it was the right thing to do to give the price that it is stated on the website. Heck, even offer to have it refunded and tell me that I can go buy it online myself. Not only that, when I got home I saw that there was a 15% discount code for buying online. When I proceeded with checkout online, the total was $14 cheaper online than buying in-person. I felt totally duped. LESSON: DO NOT BUY FROM THEIR OFFICE. CHECK ON THEIR WEBSITE AND THEN BUY IT ONLINE! For a $150 consultation, which does not go towards any treatment, I still feel totally duped. I should have been able to talk to the doctor about the products, and I should not have been overcharged for buying in person. Since then, I have had 2 more visits and the price online has not been changed. I tried to give the treatment a chance to see if it would be effective. I did not feel the treatment was effective. I went in there for scar treatment, to repair a previous poorly done laser treatment from a different doctor. After a couple months of doing topicals and seeing a slight improvement, I felt that it was going nowhere and possibly even getting worse from the Retin-A. My intuition told me there was a better treatment waiting for me out there. Thankfully I found a doctor that treated me with Fraxel and I've seen some improvement from just 1 treatment. Overall I did not see much good about the doctor. Our treatment did not progress very far, and I didn't actually feel confident that he knew what was best for my skin from what he said and instructed me to do. The staff seems rather clueless, fake, and full of crap. Overall the place seems like a lot of bells and whistles (fancy white design) but not much substance, and tries to unfairly suck money where they can. I am much happier with the other doctor I am seeing now- Quality over Quantity, better expertise, much more affordable, and I'm seeing results.
