I am seeing a certified dermatologist/Dr who has said she'd like to try subscion on an acne scar I have on my chin. Are there any risks this could worsen the scar or not work?
Answer: Improving Acne scars with subcision--add lasers, microneedling/prp, Cosmelan, fillers In the right hands, subcision is a great treatment for acne scars. Keep in mind, a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with acne scarring. Acne scars need a combination of subcision with Cosmelan, lasers, microneedling/prp, and fillers. It will take a series of treatments and may need some treatments to maintain. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an acne scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Subcision, success rate? Englewood cliffs nj In my opinion, subcision is partially successful most of the time. Sometimes multiple treatments are necessary . With a history of keloid scarring, or hypertrophic scarring, it is possible for the subscision to raise above the level of the skin. In this situation, one would use massage or intralesional injections to bring it down. Certain areas of the face and body are more prone to this sort of effect. The chin is one of those areas. Find an acne scar expert. Ask to see photos.

Answer: Acne Scars and Subcision The approach to acne scars must be multi-modal, including a mix of micro-needling, lasers, fillers and subcision. When subcision is done, it is important to put a product such as hyaluronic acid in the subdermal skin or the scar will reappear, but in a different shape. The correction of acne scars is a process, never a one and done. I suggest seeing an expert in the field of cosmetic and laser dermatology who has a number of ways to treat acne scars.

Answer: Subcsion- risk and benefits. Like any procedure, there are risks. Often multiple subcision procedures are needed depending on the type of scars, and severity. Regardless, it is a brilliant procedure in the correct hands for anchored, and tethered scars. Risks are proportional to the type and aggression used .1. If NOKOR subcision 5-10% risk of seroma or haematoma. Early intervention, easily corrected .2. Paradoxical scaring, I have seen this before. Due to more subnormal fibrosis. Rare, but can be corrected .3. Scar at entry point, rare. 4. Infection - rare.5. Bruising, common. More so if aggressive Nokor used, or extensive in certain anatomical areas. 6. Others...etc.. will be discussed by your treating dermatologist. Do not underestimate this treatment. In the correct hands, in the correct setting, it will outperform any laser or energy device as one's skill set is used to manually remove or should I say IMPROVE that scar type. Dr Rapaport is probably one of the most skilled in this procedure on this forum, and I respect his viewpoints, and agree with his comments. Dr Davin Lim, Dermatological surgeon. Acne scar specialist.
