To make an accurate assessment regarding the outcome of any plastic surgery procedure, we need to see a proper set of before and after pictures try If you don’t have proper before, and after pictures, then ask your surgeon to forward the pictures they took. I’m guessing you had cellulite before the procedure and the fat transfer may have made the cellulite worse. That is often the case. The contouring wasn’t done very well in my opinion. I would not have removed fat from the outer thighs while augmenting the buttocks. This destroyed your potential female S curve. I called this type of outcome a lollipop look, which I don’t think is a good result. Each plastic surgeon has their own way. I’m doing this procedure. Likewise each provider has their own set of experience and skills they bring to the table. As general statements, the ability to deliver consistent quality results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who approach mastery of this kind of work is in reality quite small. Revision work is more difficult than primary procedures so the importance of choosing a talented provider cannot be overstated. To improve your outcome, you probably need to have a fat grafted into the outer thigh where it was inappropriately removed. You may not get much fat to survive in this area so getting a quality outcome at this point is going to be difficult. Some reduction of the over treatment of your BBL may help as well. The best treatment for cellulite I’ve seen to date is Aveli. When this treatment is done with swallow amounts of fat grafting, it can give long-term quality outcomes. It works best for individual deep cellulite pits. It doesn’t work very well for diffuse overall cellulite. Finding the right provider to work with is difficult and time-consuming. I recommend you start by collecting pertinent information like your operative report and all before and after pictures. Bring these with you for any second opinion consultations. Next schedule in person second opinion consultations with plastic surgeons in your community we seem to have a lot of experience with the BBL procedure. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up the portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients who had similar body characteristics. Plastic surgeons will have far more before and after pictures of primary procedures, but those who have experience with revision work should have some examples of revision outcomes as well. When it comes to transfer, make sure the after pictures were taken at least 3 to 6 months from the date of the procedure. When it comes to fat transfer outcomes Early results are not representative of final outcomes. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the right provider. The more consultations you scheduled the more likely you are to find the better provider for your needs. The biggest mistake I see patients make is having only one consultation and then scheduling surgery. Having only one consultation, more or less eliminates the ability to choose a better provider. I do not think Patients can successfully vet plastic surgeons, using their cell phone or computer. Avoid virtual consultations whenever possible. Always meet your surgeon in person. The most important part of the consultation is fitting the provider and this requires seeing a large number of before and after pictures. Being shown a handful of examples is insufficient to confirm what average worker looks like in the hands of each provider. I wish I could be more optimistic about your outcome. I found that people who have been disfigured from plastic surgery procedures, deserve the truth more than anyone else. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
