I'm wondering what procedures are available to fix protruding earlobes. It changes the way my piercings look which makes wearing larger more dangly jewelry unattractive. It would be nice if it pointed downwards rather than outwards. My right ear curves a bit more than my left

Dear DianaM01,Thank you for your question and photos. Based on the photos, your lobules can be set back. This involves a small incision behind the ear and sutures to bring the earlobe back. With the Merck Stitch Method, earlobes can be brought closer to the head with a suture, simply and without cutting them open. The prerequisite for this is that the ear cartilage extends far enough into the earlobe. This can be clarified in advance by an examination and palpation of the earlobe. Alternatively, there is still the possibility of cutting open the earlobes and removing tissue. However, this is always accompanied by the formation of small scars.

but your entire ear appears prominent from the side view.  But you must be clear with whomever you see about what your goals are and if its just your lobes or your entire ears.  If just lobes, very simple procedures are available that could be done in the office under local and costs should be quite reasonable.  If the entire ear, you're looking at formal otoplasties to achieve the results you desire.

An otoplasty procedure can accomplish making the ears look less prominent. This is accomplished within creation of the anti-helical fold, and conchal set back procedure which allows the ears to be closer to the head with permanent sutures.
