Hi RL. We would need a bit more information to know if fractional lasers can help. Fractional lasers are definitely used for scar treatments, but more so for texture than color. For the color, is your skin lighter or darker colored than the surrounding skin? This makes a difference for what technology to use. Also a photo would help to more clearly define a treatment plan. Hyperpigmentation (darkening) is easier to treat than hypopigmentation (loss of color).
Hypopigmentation is a difficult problem to fix. Having said that, the Fraxel has been shown to repigment areas which have lost pigment. It won't usually completely come back. If cryotherapy was used for precancerous lesions, I prefer the Fraxel 1927 or Levulan because there is very little risk of hypopigmentation with these methods. They will be more expensive but well worth it in my opinion. Steve Weiner, MD, Destin, Florida, Facial Plastic Surgery.
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the stretch mark that has been there for awhile will not go away. The only way to minimize stretch marks is surgery, for example, tummy tuck for stretch marks on abdomen. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your question. I do not like to use the word "permanent" with the exception of death and taxes. I prefer "long term" meaning beyond a year, and possibly up to 5 years. It is hard to know how much improvement there is taking into consideration sun damage, and genetics,...
Thank you for your question. For the full effect to be in place, taking into consideration the diversity in response, and how much different the levels of sun damage are, there could be perhaps 6-12 months for the maturity to be there. I do not see any improvement beyond a year. I hope this helps!
