While there aren't any studies about the effects on laser tattoo removal and the breast, this is unlikely to have a negative impact. Tattoos should be removed with q switched or pico lasers, but it will take a series of treatments. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a laser tattoo removal expert. Best, Dr. Emer
The PicoWay laser uses high-powered bursts of energy to shatter the pigment in your tattoo. It doesn’t reach down beyond the skin level and therefore should not cause any side effects (besides some redness). No long-term studies have been done on this subject, but I’ve never even encountered anecdotal evidence of tattoo removal causing any long term effects, no matter where the tattoo was. If you have worries about your health, get an all-clear from your primary physician. When you’re ready, a board-certified dermatologist will be able to remove your tattoo with PicoWay.
To the best of my knowledge there are no studies that show any long term negative effects of the proper use of laser therapy for tattoo removal. the key is that the laser be used properly and it has been well maintained. otherwise adverse reactions like burns, scars, depigmentation or hyperpigmentation may occur. Physiologic effects that would effect the breast in aprticular have not been reported.
Thanks for your question. Laser procedures would not get FDA approval if there were long term adverse effects. The laser energy is only breaking up the ink particles that are already implanted under your skin. Your body has been chiseling away at the ink since it was placed. The laser just speeds up the process. Best of luck.
There are no special considerations when removing breast tattoos. In fact, that’s often an excellent location for speedy ink clearance. You can expect no negative effects, same as with any other body part.
