Removed mole 5 days ago and I think it is infected? Called doctors no appt until tomorrow (Photo)

Question

I had a mole that kept on changing almost daily. I had it removed and am now scared because the area is swollen very warm and painful. Is it ok that I wait another 24 hours before getting it looked at? And does this reaction imply melanoma?

Signs of infection include increased swelling, redness and pain, drainage/ pus, and increased temperature. If you have swelling, warmth, and pain I would suggest following up with your physician as soon as possible for evaluation. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question and photographs.  If you have seen a worsening in the appearance of your surgical site I would advocate seeing your surgeon sooner than later.  They can ensure all is well or offer treatment options to you.
