Is it better to keep mole removal site dry or moist?

I just got a mole removed on my face by the shave method. I had it done by a plastic surgeon. Aftercare instructions say to keep it dry and covered for a week. I've read some articles that say to keep it moist with Vaseline. Which is better?

In general I do not use laser for moles such as this.  Laser is unlikely to remove the mole completely and can leave scarring.  Surgical excision accomplishes complete removal of the mole and allows for the mole to be examined under the microscope.  Surgical excision will of course leave a sc...
