Can I run a 10k race after septoplasty and turbinate reduction?

Hello Conachan98,If you were my patient I would say you would not be allowed to run that race within 2 weeks of your surgery.  There is a very high risk of bleeding if you do that much cardiovascular activity after a septoplasty and turbinate reduction.  And the bleeding could be substantial if your mucosa dries out and your heart rate goes up.  If you can't cancel your race, I would have you postpone the surgery.  I would recommend you discuss this with your surgeon as he or she may feel differently.  Your surgeon is also the one evaluating you and knows what will be performed surgically.  I hope this helps and good luck.  

 It's best to wait at least a month after your surgery to run a race with extensive exercise. It is important to prevent a nosebleed situation after your nasal surgery.
