I had liposculpture done last Tuesday, the 30th. My hands and wrists look fat and swollen, is that normal/to be expected?
Answer: Swollen wrists/hands post liposculpture. Is this normal? Thank you for your questions. After surgery, there can be significant swelling in some weird areas. This can be due to positioning during surgery as well as the amount of fluid that you are given during surgery. With time it should improve. If you are concerned, always consult your plastic surgeon for an evaluation.Best of luck!Dallas R. Buchanan, MD, FACSOwner & Board-Certified Plastic SurgeonVIVIFY plastic surgery

Answer: Swelling after Liposuction & After care includes RF treatments (Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra) Cellutone/zwave, hyperbaric oxygen Yes, you may have swelling, which can last 3-6 months after your procedure. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Swelling in the hands and wrists Dear patient, After liposuction of the arms and tail of the breast mild swelling of the hands and wrists are to be expected. If you have pain or reduction of sensation you should contact your surgeon immediately. Surgical garments are at times too tight and can cause reduction of circulation. This needs to be addressed right away. In either case I would suggest that you contact your surgeon and discuss your concerns with him or her.

Answer: No reason for concern It is a very common event after liposuction in general, and especially if a machine was used (Untrasound or LASER). Factors that usually lead to it are basically: the amount of fluids used in the surgery, the amount of removed fat, the position during the surgery, your body's ability to handle the surgery (not a matter if it can or cannot but rather "how" it handles it), the type of your skin, any chronic conditions that you might have, the medication used on surgery and the ones prescribed for you after. The swelling usually significantly drops down in 10-15 days, and soon after all goes back to normal. Some addition treatments might be used to speed things up but keep in touch with your surgeon and don't try anything yourself without getting his approval. I'm sure he did a great job with the surgery, and the swelling is not caused by any fault from his side, so keep your trust in him solid and update him. Best of luck!

Answer: Hand swelling after lipo Thanks for writing,With liposuction there is a calculated fluid replacement through your I.V.. This fluid moves all around your body, over the next 10-14 days you will mobilize the fluid and pee it out. As that happens the areas suctioned will also improve and very slowly develop its new shape (which can take up to 4-6 months). Some of the fluid accumulations are based on how you are positioned on the O.R. Table. Check with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, I am certain they will help you understand this.Stephen M.
