I’m 43- fair to medium skin tone. 5 weeks after Halo laser I’m still red/ brown with lots of hyperpigmentation appearing. Was on prescription cortisone cream for 2 weeks but it gave me bad acne. How will this persistant inflammation affect me long term? I’m scared. I’ve always been diligent with my skin and I’m so sad. How should I be treated now? What’s the best/worst I can hope for? Please advise me.

Depending on the patient and the settings used, some patients are red for several weeks after Halo and end up with wonderful results. Redness is often associated with continued 'rev-ed up' blood flow and collagen deposition. It is very important that you remain in very close contact with your treating office - they should be checking in with you at least weekly.Hyperpigmentation is a different issue. If you are developing brown pigment after any laser, it is very important that your office see you right away and they will probably need to start you on an aggressive regimen of physical sunblock, hydroquinone (at least 8-10% strength) and possibly a retinol.
