I have performed well over 2,000 abdominal liposuction procedures and have never used compression stockings.  I do not even know of any Plastic Surgeons who use them.  My recommendation is an abdominal compression garment for 24 hours a day for two weeks then 12 hours a day for two weeks along with immediate ambulation.  With this technique excellent results can be provided, and I have never had a deep vein thrombosis (I assume that is why your doctor has required you to use the stockings)

Thank you for your question and congratulations on your recent procedure. I recommend wearing a compression garment for 6 weeks following liposuction. Marena makes quality post operative support garments. You should also follow your plastic surgeon's advice regarding level of physical activity and use of a compression garment. Hope this helps!

Speak with your surgeon as we all have different post op protocol. But I have my patients wear their garment 24/7 for 3 weeks and then 12 hours a day for 2-3 months. Hope this helps.
