3+ months after BBL+ Halo still getting pimples

It is very common to experience some skin changes after resurfacing treatments like Halo and BBL (BroadBand Light) lasers, but many patients are surprised when tiny pimples or whiteheads persist even three months post-treatment. What you are describing are most similar to Milia, those small, hard, keratin-filled cysts what are frequently reported. Addtionally new post-laser pimples can occur as well. These small whiteheads are usually easy to pop and are different from milia.
Several factors can contribute to these post-laser breakouts. First, laser resurfacing temporarily alters the skin barrier, leaving it more sensitive and prone to clogged pores. Sebaceous gland activity may also fluctuate, even in post-menopausal skin, leading to tiny pimples as oil and dead skin accumulate. Additionally, skincare products such as heavy moisturizers or oils can contribute to clogged pores if they aren’t non-comedogenic. Hormonal changes, stress, diet, and residual makeup or topical products may also play a role.
To help prevent post-laser pimples, it’s important to stick to gentle, non-comedogenic skincare, avoid picking at breakouts, and consider mild chemical exfoliants. Persistent or worsening breakouts beyond six months should be evaluated by a professional, who may suggest topical retinoids or other treatments to restore normal skin turnover. With proper care, post-laser skin usually continues to improve, and these small pimples often resolve naturally as the skin barrier fully recovers.
