Is it safe to use Botox on the neck area? If so how many units and what are the possible side effects? I read that there's a possibility that you could have trouble swallowing?

Answer: Botox for Platysmal banding Yes it is safe to treat platysmal bands with Botox. However there are risks and possible complications that can occur. The most important step is that you seek evaluation and treatment from an experienced well train doctor/injector. They should discuss all the risks and complications with you prior to treatment. (If they don't....look for another doctor!) Look at their results and get reliable referrals - not advertisements. Good luck!

Answer: It is safe, but it's critical to see an experienced provider Botox is commonly used to treat prominent platysmal bands along the neck, and it is considered safe when performed correctly by an experienced provider. The amount of units used will be dependent on your specific anatomy and the severity of your concerns. Generally speaking, providers may use an average of 20 to 80 units, though everyone’s needs are different. The most common side effects of treatment in this area include bruising and neck discomfort; though serious side effects are uncommon, your risks increase significantly when treated by an unskilled provider. I encourage you to book a consultation with an experienced injector, who can help address any of your concerns before undergoing treatment. Good luck!
