What is the best treatment for acne scars?

Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

Most patients also want to know what is the best treatment. Unfortunately, for acne scars the best treatment is going to be different for every patient. For mature scars that you describe I would commonly recommend Morpheus. Improved texture, improved color and often some further reduction in acne activity. Even though this may be the best treatment, your best outcome likely will only be achieved with optimized skin care and energy based treatments. In some cases, depressed scars can be improved with subcision, scar revision or a dermal filler. I do not recommend Bellafil for any patient.

A picture here would be very helpful. Having said that, the first thing with treating acne scars is making sure the acne is completely stable in the first place and there are no new occuring episodes. After the acne has stopped occurring, you can first treat with a regular morpheus treatment to fill in the holes and gaps and then can finish one to three months later with a morpheus resurfacing treatment to get rid of any residual roughened skin
