How long after my Breast augmentation can I shower?

I had my surgery 5/11/2018 , my Dr told me to shower 24 hrs after and it’s ok to shower just not to scrub where I have my incision . I am now 1 week post op and I have showered 3 times now . It is ok to continue showering constantly? I see a lot of ppl say they had to wait 2 weeks and were only allowed to shower there lower body.

Thank you Jazzy_Caldera for your question and congratulations on your surgery.  I have all my patients shower 48 hours after surgery getting everything nice and wet without scrubbing the area. You should be showering every day at this point, but I would recommend speaking with your Plastic Surgeon and confirm his or her protocol.  Best of luck to you.

You should follow the post op instructions your board certified surgeon suggested.I tell my patients not to shower until the first follow up visit which is 3-4 days after the surgery. You can use a sponge ,but no showering until the follow up visit. Again, I would follow the post op care your surgeon suggested.

Hi there. Thank you for your post. This is a common question and also one that divides opinion - it is probably best to stick with the advice of your surgeon. In my practice, I encourage patients to begin showering the day after surgery but then I don't use drains and use a multi-layered wound closure sealed with glue!

It’s a pleasure to answer your questions! Plastic surgeons have different post-operative protocols to achieve the best results, customized for every patient. I usually instruct my patients to shower regularly, starting the day after surgery. They should wash all incisions gently with soap and water. If patients have white tape (steri strips) on their incisions, they should leave this intact as it can get wet and typically it will not come off in the shower. The support bra should be removed prior to showering and replace it when finished. Patients should not soak in a bathtub for at least 7 days after surgery. First of all thank you for the question.  I recommend that my patients wait 24 hours and will be fine to shower after that.  It is fine to shower every day.  As always, I recommend that you follow your plastic surgeons protocol.  Best of Luck.

It is very important that you follow your surgeon's instructions.   there is a lot of variation in how the post op course is handled.    I keep the incisions dry for 10 days but allow patients to bathe around it.  Incisions heal best when they are dry the first week or so.
