Hair loss is multifactorial. Not all PRP treatments are equal. Some have higher concentrations of platelets and some have higher yields of platelets. Some have high red cell and white cell counts. Some have low white cell counts but high mononuclear cell counts. You have to know you PRP. Then there is the question of how to activate the PRP. Finally, you must consider Acell and what it's benefit is. Acell allows for a prolonged release of growth factors in addition to stimulating stem cells at the point of injury along with it's own growth factors. Propecia inhibits the production of DHT, a hormone that induces hair loss in susceptible individuals. Propecia acts differently than PRP so most likely they are additive. In other words, you cannot substitute one for the other. However, we know that not all individual like to take medications like Propecia, while PRP is a natural solution that most likely improves hair diameter. Optimally, you would do both. Propecia does not work in all individuals. This drug can cause side effects such as a loss of sex drive. If you are comfortable taking medications such as Propecia, you might consider both Propecia and PRP.
