Do photofacials/IPL treatments cause dermal filler to dissolve or breakdown?

Thank you for your question. There aren't any studies that show that IPL lasers cause fillers to dissolve or breakdown faster. In my experience, I have not seen any issues either. If you bruise after the filler, wait until that has completely resolved before you have the laser treatment. Best of luck to you!

The only time you might have a concern is if you've recently had a superficial wrinkle treatment with fillers such as Belatero or Perlane Silk within a couple weeks of treatment. Otherwise, the energy does not transmit deep enough to effect dermal treatments.

IPL photo facials are beneficial for complexion and collagen stimulation. Many patients choose to have IPL annually for its anti-aging skin benefits. I have not found that photofacials cause filler to dissolve. The way that IPL works is to target specific characteristics in the skin such as melanin (pigment), hemoglobin (vascular), and water. Most fillers naturally degrade over time.
