3 days post-op I banged my right butt hard. Did this cause fat cells to die? (photo)

it is unlikely that you did some damage to your results. I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a BBL surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides  you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.

Probably not.  I guess anything is possible, but I suspect that the only thing that may occur is a little bit of bruising and swelling. Follow-up with your PS to determine if any damage was done.

Yes, technically trauma to an area can cause fat cells to die or the soft tissue to atrophy. I am not sure hitting your buttocks on the washing machine is enough trauma to do so. Definitely talk to your PS.

Thank you for your question. It is very unlikely that this incident did anything to jeopardize the graft. It tends to be more sustained pressure on the graft for longer periods of time that could cause problems. Hope this helps. 

 Grafted to shoes are very sensitive to physical disruption during the first 10 days. It's not possible to know if this cost it is rep it's not possible to know if this caused a disruption of the neovascularization or in a growth of capillaries in the graft a tissue.  in order for the fat to survive it has to reestablish a blood supply within the first 10 days.  These microscopic blood vessels that are slowly growing into the grafted tissue are sensitive to disruption early on.  Regardless, there's nothing you can do at this point. Most likely this did not cause a disruption though no one can tell you for sure.  Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
