I was considering either laser resurfacing or chemical peels for sun damage on my chest, arms, hands & legs. I'm concerned about the cost. Will either work?
Answer: Our Clear & Brilliant laser is best for sun damage Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Laser Resurfacing vs. Chemical Peels Laser resurfacing tends to offer more dramatic results that last longer than most chemical peels. However, the success of your procedure will depend on your physician’s ability to customize your treatment to your precise needs, skin tone, and desired results. I offer more than 50 different choices in laser devices, so I can tailor treatments with the precision necessary to achieve the best possible results. I recommend scheduling an in-person assessment with a board-certified dermatologist with the expertise and experience to create a personalized plan for you. Cost is going to vary considerably based on where you are located, the experience of your doctor and the amount of damage you have.

Answer: A combination treatment is often the most effective approach. Hello. Thank you for your question. While chemical peels and laser skin resurfacing can both help to address sun-damaged skin, the best choice for you can depend on your individual skin type and concerns. In many cases, a combination approach can achieve maximum results. If you’re concerned about costs, you may want to start with a chemical peel and see if you notice the improvement you were looking for without adding a laser treatment. However, you’ll be able to get more personalized advice at an in-person consult at a reputable cosmetic surgeon’s office.
