Hello Doctor's I would like to know if this can be fixed with another round of liposuction? Seems like my panty line never gets liposuction. What can fix this it's one of my insecurities.

This is a very challenging issue to address as there is previous injury to the area from the liposuction. The skin likely needs to be removed with an abdominoplasty. I would highly recommend seeing a board-eligible or board-certified plastic surgeon with adequate training and expertise in revisionary surgery. This is a complex problem to address and needs someone dedicated to revisionary surgery.

The problem is not residual fat that needs to be removed, its excess skin. A surgery that will improve the appearance of your abdomen is a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, which will remove this excess skin.

This situation looks a little more complicated than just adding a little more lipo, particularly if this area was treated in the past. The area does look scarred and could be difficult to contour currently with liposuction. It does look like surgery would be your best option, possibly at a later time. A standing photo would be better to see, but if you have excess fat in that area, then it can be treated with liposuction.

Dear Fantastic,
The photos that you sent are really inadequate to assess your possible needs for further liposuction.  Too many patients in consultation sit down, bend over and say "I need to get rid of this."  Unless you have 0-10% body fat (and even at that), any person sitting will have rolls around the waistline.  Evaluation for liposuction also involves the surgeons assessment of your skin elasticity, which can only be achieved with an in person examination.  Speak to your surgeon, hopefully an American Board of Plastic Surgery board certified surgeon about your options.  Good luck!

Liposuction results are never viewed in a sitting position or with the torso flexed.Everyone is going to have skinfolds in this position and that is not how we view the outcome.If you want feedback or an assessment on the outcome of a procedure I recommend posting proper before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures then contact your surgeons office and ask them to forward the ones they took.If you want a proper second opinion consultation I suggest scheduling those in person consultations with other local board-certified plastic surgeons.For a second opinion consultations patient should come prepared bringing with them proper before and after pictures and a copy of your previous operative report which is all available to you if you ask your surgeons office to forward them.Liposuction results are basically an out come of the patients individual candidacy for the procedure combine with the skillet experience of the provider. if an individual is not a good candidate they are not going to have great results no matter who does the procedure. If the surgeon lack skill and experience than results will not be as good as they could’ve been.It’s important to differentiate subcutaneous fat from skin laxity, muscle separation from previous pregnancies in case of women who’ve had children and exes visceral fat which can all contribute to how the abdomen presents.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
