I'm going to be on a 10 hour flight, can I get fillers the day before the flight? I don't usually bruise after lip fillers.
Answer: Airplane travel does not affect the results of an injectable filler treatment. If your lip augmentation procedure goes well without complication, I see no reason why you could not get on an airplane the next day. We treat patients from afar who request permanent lip augmentation, and there are no restrictions on flying home. I hope this is helpful! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Fillers before a long flight Hello, and thank you for your question. I personally advise against getting filler before any trip or event and to schedule at least 2-4 weeks ahead of time. Regardless if you bruise or not with lip filler, there could potentially be other complications that could occur. For instance, a vascular occlusion could occur and block blood flow to certain areas of the face, ultimately resulting in necrosis. This is most likely to occur within 24 hours of filler placement and requires immediate attention. I would recommend consulting with your provider.

Answer: Fillers and flying Bruising and swelling are common after filler treatment to the lips. If you have a long flight the day after receiving lip fillers you may swell more than usual. You may consider using Bromelain and Arnica prior to and after your filler treatment, as well as cold compresses to the treated area. Your injector can advise you further.

Answer: Yes, you can! Good morning and thank you for your question. It is technically safe to fly post filler injection, even on the same day. There is no scientific evidence that states otherwise. That said, there are a couple of noteworthy downsides to doing so...first, you may experience more swelling than the norm, if you fly shortly after getting filler. More importantly, however, is that if you happen to experience any adverse side effects from your filler, which is rare, but possible, you will not receive the same support from your provider as if you were in town. We have patients that fly same day, and fly in from all over the country for their injectables, and then return home and are completely fine. As long as you know, and accept, the possibility of increased swelling and limited support, then it is ok. Hope this helps!

Answer: Lip filler’s before flying It’s good that you usually do not bruise, but that does not mean that you will not bruise this time. Bruising, however, is not a problem here. If you are someone who swells after lip injections, you may swell some more during the flight. Other than that you can definitely have fillers done today prior to flying. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City Plastic Surgery.
