Answer: Subcision and laser treatments to help reduce appearance Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Answer: Scar revision Thank you for your question. The scar will slowly fade on its own as it continues to mature over the course of 12 - 18 months. However, adjuncts such as laser resurfacing or microneedling can also be helpful for smoothening the surface of the skin and collagen remodeling. Injections with steroids or 5-FU can also help. All the best to you! -Dr. P

Answer: Subcision For Elevating & Smoothing Depressed Scars; Microneedling For Helping To Improve Surface Texture Ideally, for maximal improvement, a scar should be treated between week eight to twelve after the injury has healed. Indentations can be helped via subcision to elevate and smooth the scar and professionally performed microneedling can then be utilized to help better blend, in both texture and color, the surface of the treated scar with the surrounding normal skin. You would be wise to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist. Best of luck.
