I have four porcelain veneers that appear fake, although I’m not able to say why. They are five years old and I am considering having them redone but don’t know what to ask for. My gums are also receding unevenly and mostly on the veneers - is there anything I can do to fix that? Feels like there’s a ridge I can catch w my fingernail between the veneer and my tooth - is it possible the gums are pulling back due to bacteria? I also wear a plastic mouth guard at night is that contributing?
Answer: Not all veneers are equal Some labs make "monolithic" restorations, so they appear one color (which is not natural). Other labs can layer porcelain for a more natural look, so it takes homework to find a dentist that works with a top lab (not all dentists are equal, not all labs are equal). Be sure to find a dentist that can plan and design your smile BEFORE you start.

Answer: Fake looking veneers Thank you for your question along with the pictures. The veneers look too big for your face and smile. They also have a very square shape and little to no curves which makes porcelain look natural. I would seek out an expert cosmetic dentist in your area to redo your case. It's a good idea to see a periodontist as well to address the receding gums. If there is a bigger reason for the recessions, its good to know about it upfront.

Answer: Fake veneers The veneers look thick. This has to do with the contours of the veneers and the sizing/shape/embrasure spaces, but also the color could have a bit less opacity.Changing these issues could give a more delicate and natural look.

Answer: Veneer results Hello and thank you for your question. Keep in mind, it will take some time to get used to the look of your veneers. However, I recommend following up with your Dentist about your concerns or consult with a Prosthodontist, who can discuss with you the different types of veneers to give you the best long-term results. A Prosthodontist is a dental specialist who has advanced training in restoring teeth and can create a customized treatment using the latest techniques in dental veneers.
