I will start this review off by saying that I am not a fan going to the Dentist and have done so far less than I should have in years past. I know I needed to go though so I broke down and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Taylor. I have been to the office twice now so I will share both experiences I have had so far. The first appointment was a new patient exam and a cleaning. The assistants and the hygienist are all very friendly, professional, and efficient. Dr. Taylor is all of those adjectives and more. After exam and cleaning he thoroughly explained to me what he recommended for my treatment plan and why. I was given a very fair estimate and was able to be scheduled for an appointment on the spot. A couple of weeks later I came back for my cavity to be treated. I can say that this was the least painful injection I have ever had. I didn’t feel any pain whatsoever. Dr. Taylor was then able to complete the filling quickly and with virtually no discomfort at all. I walked in the door of the office for my appointment at 8am and was out the door by 9am. He also provided me with great follow up instructions for what to do regarding sensitivity and provided me with information, options, and quotes for whitening procedures that I requested as well. If you want a dentist who you know truly values you as a patient and makes you feel comfortable, pain free, and like you are the priority then you need to go to Dr. Taylor. You are doing yourself and your teeth a disservice if you don’t.
It is not advised to do any do it yourself dentistry. In this and any situation super glue does not work and could actually cause harm. If your implant it out of your bone you should visit a dentist and have it inspected as soon as possible. From your description I'm guessing its actually the crown on top of the implant. For this scenario leave the crown off and visit your dentist as they can hopefully just re-cement it on as long as there are not any other complications.
Anytime a dental prosthesis breaks its recommended to have it checked out by a dentist to determine what should be done. Its hard to say without seeing the situation but if your bridge has metal underneath it still could be strong enough to last a little while. If its all porcelain and either way I would make sure you are very gentle with it until you can get to a place that a professional can take a look.
Zirconia is one of the hardest materials we use in dentistry. Because of this adjusting and polishing can be difficult however there are many products made for this exact purpose. Your concerns are legitimate as any surface can attract plaque and rough surfaces are no exception. I would recommend visiting your dentist to have this problem resolved. Hopefully this can be done in the office but if there was an error with lab processing and the entire surfaces of all the crowns are this way they may need to be remade.
Veneers are made of a variety of materials with the most common and aesthetically pleasing ones being made of a mixture of minerals known as ceramic. These materials mimic natural tooth appearance in shape, texture and color. All should be inspected for fit and function before delivery to ensure the patients approval in both appearance and feel.
Nothing we do in dentistry typically last forever. With that being said the average lifespan of materials can vary depending on how well you take care of it. Just because a crown has been in service for X number of years does not necessitate replacement. It is only when we can make a diagnosis of disease that warrants treatment. In other words your crown could last much longer and only when an issue arises will the decision to replacement come about. If a crown develops a problem treatment can range from a simple repair to extracting the whole tooth depending on the diagnosis.
