Day 2 after Vi peel. Will these dark spots go away?

I'm African American and I'm on day 2 I notice there's dark spots on my face that's wasn't there before is that normal will it go away once II start to peel?????

Typically, with the Vi Peel you will look worse before you look better. The dark spots are likely dead skin that will slough off as the peeling process continues. However, if these new dark spots remain after the peeling process is complete you should follow up with your provider. We would recommend the use of Lytera applied morning and night to reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation as it decreases the activity of the cells that make the pigment. Ideally, patient need multiple treatments spaced one month apart to achieve optimal results. Best of luck with your treatment!

Probably by the time you read this answer, you would have already completed the peeling process. Again without the picture its hard to give a definitive answer. Most likely what one sees as dark patches in the days following Vi peel are actually the parts of the skin that are going to peel. One must moisturize liberally, and follow the post procedure instructions strictly, stay away from sun exposure and not pick or rub on the area which is still peeling. In some there would be darker areas coming to the surface which was not as dark before. If the darker area persists after 7-14 days see your physician for a follow up evaluation. Sometimes one needs a second Vi peel a month later to get rid of the pigmentation that has come to the surface. In some individuals a prescription bleaching cream may be needed after the peeling process is over. Definitely follow up with your doctor once the peeling is complete.
