Why do anesthesiologists still insist on fasting after midnight before surgery when the ASA's own study shows this is not optimal for surgeries scheduled after noon? Mine is scheduled at 1pm and I’m concerned about dehydration. Especially since, in general, I stop drinking fluids at 6pm to avoid sleep-disrupting nocturia.
