Facial numbness after masseter Botox, s there a risk for facial paralysis?

I received Botox treatment to both sides of my masseter muscle because of TMJ. I was experienced hypertrophic muscles, very strong tension in my jaw/neck/shoulders. I was very fatigued yesterday 6 hours post-injection. t's been less than 24 hours and now I feel a numbing/tingling in my lip area. I know this is not normal.  What is going on?

What you are describing is highly unlikely given that the nerves supply sensation and movement are different.  If sensations/pain persist beyond 2-3 days you should see your physician immediately.  I wish you the best of luck, Dr. Emer.

I'm not sure why you are having some numbness and tingling in the lip area a day after the Botox treatment to your masseter muscles.  Most likely, this issue is temporary and should resolve within a few days.  There should not be any risk of facial paralysis.  The nerve that supplies the sensation to the lip is completely different from the nerve that causes movement of the face.

Botox effects motor nerves that innervate muscles in the face. You should not have sensation deficits following Botox injections. I also cannot explain why you are having fatigue. I would follow up with your doctor to ensure that further workup is done if necessary.
